(Epping, NH) – In a homecoming of sorts, Hudson, NH driver Derek Griffith competed in the Star Speedway’s Support 50 Legs 150 on the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Tour and when the dust settled the driver of the No. 12 FEP Insurance/ Hitman Firearms Toyota Camry captured his third top-5 in the first five races of the season.
“The car was fast again in practice and Louie [Crew Chief Louie Mechalides] dialed it in for the heat race. It was a little loose, so we made adjustments. We raced hard in the heat to gain a front row starting spot for the feature” said Griffith.
Derek rolled off in second place at the start of the 150-lap main event, he talks about how the race car changed throughout the feature, “Boy the car was a handful in traffic, I really couldn’t get off the corners as well as I liked, however at the end of the day, to come away with a fifth place finish is still a good points day, now we head to Thunder Road.”
This will be the second trip to the Barre, Vermont ¼-mile, high-banked oval, dubbed “The Nation’s Site of Excitement” for the New Hampshire native. “Last year didn’t go as planned for us, we had a trailing arm issue, remarked Griffith. This year we hope to contend for the win, boy that little place is fast.”
The event at Thunder Road Speedbowl is part of their annual Memorial Day event and is scheduled for a post time of 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 29th.
