Griffith Overcomes Major Obstacles To Grab A Podium Finish At Star Speedway

(Epping, NH) – The No. 12 MOM’s of Manchester/LCM Racing team of Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) point leader Derek Griffith had a plan coming into the Star Speedway Classic Weekend and that was to come out with a solid finish and put themselves in a great position for the point’s title, which is to be decided at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

Well those plans were immediately tested on Saturday night as an incident in the heat race forced Derek into the pits to make repairs in hopes of being able to compete in the 100-lap feature event, the Star 100.

Starting in the 22nd position for the main event really made the Hudson, NH native change his game plan. There was no way that Derek could ride around and hope to stay out of potential trouble until the final 20-25 laps and them access the scenario and put himself in the position to win. Now the GSPSS point leader had to start out very aggressive and start passing cars from the drop of the green flag.

Derek commented, “Starting out back really changed our approach to the Star 100. We now decided it was in our best interest to really get to the front as quickly as possible. The Pro Stocks really turn fast laps there and before you know it, you’re down to crunch time.”

Not only was Derek really impressive in this race as he challenged eventual race winner DJ Shaw for the win and came home in an impressive second place finish, he also kept in mind he is putting himself in a position to capture his first GSPSS champion as there were only 2 point races left. Now with 1 point race left, Griffith sits 40 points ahead of second place point’s driver, Barry Gray heading in the 150-lap season finale to be held at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl on October 24, 2015.
