Rougemont, NC- Derek Griffith and the FEP Insurance/ Hitman Firearms / LCM Racing team took the track for the first time at America’s fastest 3/8 track, Orange County Speedway Saturday March 25th for the Pro All Stars Series 10th Orange Blossom Special 150.
The second race of the 2017 PASS National schedule 21 cars took the field to qualify. Griffith time trialed seventh and after the top 10 re-draw start third on the grid for the 150-feature lap event. At the green Griffith took an early lead showing he had a dominate car and stretched this advantage to over a straightway over second place, Peltier. The first caution didn’t fly until lap 69. On the restart, Griffith maintained this lead over Peltier but as they made way through laps traffic Peltier made the way past the No. 12 with 37 laps remaining. A late caution with five laps remaining restarting third Griffith spins on the front stretch and ending the night with a thirteenth-place finish.
This weekend Griffith will return to Thompson Motorsports Park for the Icebreaker 2017. This will be the third PASS National race and First PASS North race of the season. Practice and Qualifying are scheduled for Saturday and a full schedule of racing to set for Sundays Icebreaker 2017.
